Chapman's Peak Drive
Chapman’s Peak Drive, affectionately known as “Chappies,” isone of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. 9km of road featuring 114 curves built between 1915 and 1922 cost £ 20,000. Chappies, the bubble gum, is an iconic brand in South Africa and has been around since the late 1940s!
Once 2 for one cent, and selling 2.5 billion pieces a year, children would hone their general knowledge facts with the ‘Did you know?’ Fact on the inside of the wrapper.
In 2012, Chappies asked the public to send in their own facts for the wrappers.
50,000 people submitted their facts, of which 170 facts were selected for printing on thousands of wrappers.
